There are many ways to be involved in the Carnegie Carnival fun! Whether you want to start a crewe, volunteer your time, help sponsor the events, or simply just take it all in on parade day, we hope that you’ll join us to let the good times roll in downtown Decatur!

Start a Crewe

Gather your co-workers, family, or friends and join in on the fun of Carnegie Carnival by starting a Crewe!

Go all out and create a float OR start a walking crewe dressed in festive costume and walk the parade route. Don’t forget your throws either! Your creativity helps make Carnegie Carnival North Alabama’s premier Mardi Gras celebration!

Early Bird Crewe & Float Registration deadline is January 6, 2025. Regular Crewe & Float Registration deadline is February 10, 2025. Required Driver’s Meeting – Feb 13 at 5:30 pm or Feb 16th at 2 pm (bring insurance card & Drivers license)

Carnegie Carnival Visitor Information - Come have a good old time

Coming to Decatur for Carnegie Carnival? Make a weekend out of it!

Join us Friday for the Cake Shake, a free concert featuring a swinging band, hosted by Queen Lindsey VII, Queen Holly V, King Doug VII, and King Wade V in celebrating the Carnival Season at the historic Princess Theatre. The party starts at 7pm and is open to the public.

Saturday begins with the Carnival Frolic half-marathon and the fun continues throughout the day with various events for all ages. End your day with the main event: the Carnegie Carnival parade.

With downtown dining galore and plenty to see and do, make your plans and come spend the weekend in Decatur and enjoy Carnegie Carnival! Need help with plans and lodging? Decatur AL Tourism will be glad to help! See you there!

Volunteer for Carnegie Carnival

It takes over 100 volunteers to man all the aspects of Carnegie Carnival. Volunteer opportunities include Carnival Frolic, children’s parade, dog parade and children activities.
